about

There are some types of music that don’t start at square one. While most of them are simply
redundant, others are rather nostalgic or even timeless. It can be hard to distinguish between the two
latter ones. Especially when you find affection in the music you’re listening to. The Hamburg based
band Palila gets its bearings from classic 90s indie rock music. They succeed in avoiding
redundancy and deliver timeless indie rock music that finds its way straight to your heart. It’s the
result of three guys who know exactly what they do and why they do it. While listening to this
timeless, honest and touching music, it is best to do the only right thing here: Letting go. Let it flow.
Sometimes that’s difficult – especially these days. But this music is about attitude. It’s about
honesty. Everything else doesn’t really matter. The outcome varies from walls of sound like the
early Smashing Pumpkins, fuzzy guitars as in Dinosaur Jr and unexpected melodic coolness of Built
to Spill. Again and again it’s about writing songs. Great songs.
